Customers often ask....Bob... "How do I apply a cut vinyl graphic to my smooth wall or window?"
I give them these easy to follow directions.
Clean the surface with "glass cleaner" and a dry cloth. Dirt and dust particles will cause vinyl graphics to bubble.
Mark guidelines with masking tape or washable marker in the area you wish to apply your graphics.
On the prepared, clean surface, position the graphics using your guidelines.
Using masking tape, tape the top of the graphics face down.
Rotate the graphics up, using the tape as a hinge. Carefully peel the backing paper away from the graphic.
When removing the backing paper, always pull it slowly, back onto itself, at a 180-degree angle.
Carefully rotate the graphics back down into position. Hold at about a 45 degree angle from surface.
Starting in the center at the top of the graphics with transfer paper still attached, firmly "squeegee"- (a credit card works great) the graphics to force the bubbles out. Move the“squeegee” back and forth across the graphic starting at the top and moving toward the bottom of the graphic.
Gently peel off the transfer paper, if the graphics continue to adhere to the transfer paper, again firmly press down on the transfer paper causing the graphics to stick to the surface. Do not pop the bubbles with a pin. This can cause the bubble to rip, and expand. Time and warmer temperatures should remove any bubbles.
Failure to follow all directions could result in damaged or creased graphics. These graphics have been produced on vinyl if there is a significant crease or bubble in the graphic after it is applied, you can carefully peel back the graphic from the nearest corner and reapply the graphic using a “squeegee” to smooth the graphic.
Definitions:
Backing paper- Heavy “Blue/ White” paper on adhesive back side of the graphic that will be placed on surface.
(First to be removed, to reveal adhesive on graphic)
Transfer paper- Thin “Tan” semi-transparent/ maskingtape paper on top of graphic.
(Second to be removed after application, to reveal finished art)
